10. Prohibition of corporal punishment
(1) No person may administer corporal punishment at a school to a learner.
(2) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a sentence which could be imposed for assault.
NOTE: As a matter of interest. Learners as well as Adults who either may be ADHD or has been diagnosed with ADHD has a tendency to perceive sudden movements to them or an unsuspected touch on an arm or a should as aggression although it may not be the intent.
It is important to then realise that the response of the teacher could aggrevate the situation which could lead to more serious consequinces for the Educator as well the Learner in question.
